Across the Yumiverse creates an intimate and affectionate portrait of Yumi Sakugawa, a Japanese American comic book artist, as she navigates the Los Angeles art scene during the month of May, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and Mental Health Awareness Month.
The documentary explores how she got into creating comics to explore her own Asian American identity. The film also shows Sakugawa using her art to heal her community, as she did herself.
